Thursday July 20th 7:00PM - Film Screening- JIRI KYLIAN: FORGOTTEN MEMORIES and Q&A with the Cirio Collective @ Wellfleet Preservation Hall
JIRI KYLIAN: FORGOTTEN MEMORIES, Don Kent and Christian Dumais-Lvowski, France, Bel Air Media, 2011
World renowned Czech choreographer Jiri Kylian, always a reluctant subject, finally agreed to participate in this, the only record of his personal history and artistic life. Narrated by him, the film covers his school days in Prague, as well as his apprenticeship in London and Stuttgart where he began his choreographic life. Through interviews shot largely in the Netherlands, home of the Nederlands Dans Theater which he guided for more than 30 years and featuring gorgeous excerpts of some of his best known works, a picture emerges of a singular artist whose dance vision has inspired dancers and choreographers around the globe. Cirio Collective artistic director Jeffery Cirio and associate artistic director Lia Cirio, and Boston Ballet Soloist Paul Craig, all of whom have performed Jiří Kylián’s work at the Boston Ballet, will join
Cape Dance Festival producer Liz Wolff for a Q&A after the screening.
Tickets for Sunday July 30th @ Noon
Cape Dance Festival is proud to present the 2nd annual Tilli’s Family Show on Sunday July 30th at 12pm at Payomet Performing Arts Center in Truro, MA. The 45-minute program, specially selected for families, features Boston-based tap dancer Ryan P. Casey and his troupe Off Beat. Casey’s Broadway tap choreography brings to mind the great Tommy Tune, and Dance Magazine called his footwork “freakishly clean” and “reminiscent of Fred Astaire.”
Tilli’s Family Show is made possible by the generosity of our dear patron Kate Nelson.
Kids 18 and under can enter for free when accompanied by an adult. Adult tickets are $20.
